Born in 1984 and raised in the Coney Island section of Brooklyn NY,
Shavon "Miss Shay" Meyers has seen her share of hard times but was determined not to let her surroundings stop her from fulfilling her dreams.
 
Early on, she realized her strong love for music of all genres and her ability to express herself through writing. She began writing poetry in junior high school. Around this time her dreams of working in the broadcasting industry also began to shape but after graduating from high school, she headed to college as a psychology major.
Due to circumstances beyond her control, she was forced to leave school early and return home.
While back in Brooklyn, Miss Shay continued to improve her writing skills with her poetry and she began writing short stories. After a few years of working un-fulfilling 9-5 jobs just to make ends meet, she decided to re-focus her energy on her writing and to begin her career in the broadcasting field.
It has been a non-stop ride for her ever since!



She enrolled in the Connecticut School of Broadcasting where she currently attends. While learning the technical skills needed to succeed in the business, she landed an internship at Sirius Satellite Radio where she continues to shine and expand her knowledge of the industry. Her knowledge and passion for various music genres came in handy. While at Sirius, Miss Shay has done programming work on a variety of music channels including Pop-Totally 70’s (Channel 7), Pop-The Big 80’s (Channel 8) and Hip Hop-Shade 45 (Channel 45). She has also worked on The Martha Stewart Channel and Court TV Radio .
While interning at Sirius, Miss Shay decided to develop her own radio show and thus “The B Side Show” was born. As the creator, producer, writer and host of the show, Miss Shay is in complete control of every aspect. She says she created the show to “break the monotony of regular radio by shedding light on music that radio stations don’t play”. While accomplishing all of this she never lost focus on her desire to become an established writer. She recently completed her first book of poetry entitled “QuietStorm Vol.1”. She is also in the process of developing her 1st fictional novel along with her writing partner. 
Miss Shay now works as a board operator at Sirius Satellite Radio.  With her developing skills in editing, programming, production and copywriting, the future is extremely bright for this beautiful young talent. She says she “has no plans on stopping anytime soon” so world…get ready to witness this star’s brilliance!
